Make up (Week 6)

Inspiration/Artist In the Pixar movie Brave, character design is one of the best things it does. The reason for this is because each Character while historically accurate also shows what kind of person they are. Merida has a tight dress with ripped seems and a confident but not proper postiche to show her rebellious nature while in contrast her mother has a looser dress green dress with gold highlights plus perfect postiche making her seem powerful not because a crown is backing her but from her own will.      Brave inspired me to look at more than just making a model look good but to also look at what each little thing could possibly mean. In addition to this something that each character in the movie has is a particle system for their hair instead of having a mesh making the characters much more detailed. If I were to follow suit like I wish to I would probably use the following tutorial. However this is only if I believe at the time that with the addition of...

Week 9

Experimentation     All this week I have been Playing with different methods of lighting the alley. I have been mostly adding Neon Signs and a few lanterns to get a specific feel in the ally before I go overboard on any detailing. While neon signs aren't difficult to make they did take fairly long because in order to see how it would look I had to wait on some rendering; therefor while I waited for my renders I started setting up Computers for when I inevitably need a render farm. Though I did need a reminder on how to make neon signs and wanted to make the signs in another language, mostly so I didn't have to make clever names for the stores, so the first signs were a tad tricky.      I have also started to consider adding neon signs that aren't just words but are pictures. though this would take much more work to create so it may have to wait till all the other settings are done just to make sure there is time for such endeavors, but if I were...

Week 4 (Make up)

Inspiration/Artist     While no individual artist inspired the lighting of my animation the movie "Raya and the Last Dragon" Did inspire the kind of glowing lights I wanted for my alleyway. How the movie inspired me was through how throw-out the movie many scenes are lit not by lamps or the sun but objects or entities that glow brightly and while I can't use only glowing objects I was inspired to have the scene mostly lit by a combination of different glowing objects     The reason I find this style of lighting Appropriate and best for the alley is because having multiple faint sources of light of different colour leads to an uneasy feeling because its hard to see. if I were to throw in some fog to help the restricted view it increase the affect the low lighting has. I addition to this the small lights lighting up the alley will help emphasize the feeling the cramped placement of the building gives off making both atmospheres more enhanced...

Week 8

Brainstorming Telephone Wires      For the telephone wires hanging across the street I will either manually extrude and curve them across the entire alley or I will use the Catenary Curve addon, referred to as Add Curve: Extra Objects Add-on in blender, and follow the tutorial in the video that follows. I am leaning towards a solid colour texture because first of all no focus should be brought to the wires they are mostly ambiance and a way to add clutter to the scene, secondly should be covered up by the fog in the scene, and lastly one the neon signs are added those should draw more attention than the wires do. Lighting     Originally I was going to use the Filmic Add-on to help light the animation as a whole but following a tutorial by Blender Guru. However, a recent discovery led to me finding out that Filmic was somewhat added during Blender 2.79, and that there are now not many good tutorials on how to properly use the parts of Filmic added for Blend...

Week 7

Progress Report Alley So far I have textured all but two types of buildings which is less than I would have liked in this time frame but due to topology issues when texturing was unavoidable. In addition to this blender has run into some unforeseen issues regarding how well it is able to load up my project which is being worked on. Also I have switched from the use of Eevee to Cycles because of a software I recently found that will help me with lighting but only works in cycles. do to not being to far into my project this transition has been mostly uneventful. the only serious issue is that due to blenders operating issues and the switch to cycles it has been difficult relighting the alley especially when trying to keep in mind the lights to be added. Bedroom On top of the progress made In the alley some changes have been made to the bedroom and while somewhat minor I believe they have helped massively declutter the area and make the scene much easier to comprehend while also eli...
